Sundance Film Festival Recap

SpyGames Studios CEO and founder Alex Orellana often says he has two speeds, “fast and faster.” That mantra was on display this past week as the SpyGame team took on the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and covered the Echoes of Hope Foundation celebration.

Echoes of Hope was founded in 2005 by NHL Hall of Famer, and current LA Kings executive Luc Robitaille, and his wife Stacia.  The foundation’s primary mission is to help emancipated minors succeed in academics and in life. The foundation each year attracts top NHL Hockey Legends and Hollywood celebrities to take part in various fundraising activities during Sundance.

SpyGame Studios hit the ground running upon arrival in Park City covering the opening event for the Echoes of Hope weekend, a star studded dinner held at The Handle. The Friday evening event featured many athletes and celebrities, including cast members from the Sundance kids film “The Games Maker.”

Saturday morning the men of SpyGame Studios got up early and hit the town, catching up with Adrian Grenier, Nikki Reed, and Jack Black as they made there way down Main Street Park City.

Saturday evening Alex and his crew interviewed celebrities and hockey players about with Echoes of Hope and also their experiences with the Stanley Cup.

Later Saturday evening SpyGame Studios covered the Music of Hope Gala that featured music from award winning artists such as Five for Fighting, Matisyahu, Taylor Dayne, Jessarae, and R5.

Sunday featured the much anticipated “Luc Robitaille Celebrity Shootout.” This game featured numerous NHL Hall of Famers and celebrities who love hockey. It was a battle for the ages as Team Hope edged out Team Echo to grab the ceremonial cup.

After the game work was not done for SpyGame Studios, the team covered the screening of “99 Homes” and interviewed the cast on the red carpet.

SpyGame Studios was proud to be part of the Echoes of Hope events and the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It was a crazy non-stop weekend that moved at a very fast pace, but for the SpyGame Studios team it wasn’t difficult to keep up because there are only two speeds at SpyGame Studios….fast and faster.

Expendables 3 Movie Premiere: Back in Black

If you were ever a fan of 1980s old school action movies, then the “Expendables 3” Los Angeles Movie Premiere was an “All Star,” action packed adventure for the ages!   Imagine having a super team comprised of Rambo, The Terminator, Indiana Jones, Mad Max, Zorro, Blade and more- all in one place!

Growing up in the 80s, these characters were larger than life, and often times as kids, we would reenact some of their most adventurous movie scenes with the toy action figures of these very actors.

Spygame Studios was honored to provide celebrity security services for this memorable event, and below are some stories from the Black Carpet.994481_10203614639958040_1369835826456214992_nEXP Chinese Theater

Wesley Snipes: Protection Detail

We were assigned to the protection detail of Wesley Snipes and his family, for The Expendables 3 World Premiere.  It was our job to make sure Mr. Snipes was safe from all potential harm.  Hundreds of rabid fans, autograph hounds, and pushy photographers, all wanted a piece of Snipes.  Snipes was a great sport and posed for fan photos pretty much the entire night, resting only for a couple minutes to spend time with his family.   The experience offered us ALL ACCESS to the Black Carpet of the movie, giving us some amazing moments with Stallone and his team of mercenaries.

Mel Gibson Selfie:

At one point during the premiere, Mel Gibson was right next to us on the Black Carpet.  As he was being interviewed by the media, he decided to take a selfie phone pic.  Unaware, we ended up in that photo discovering it all over the internet the next day.  The selfie was posted by Fandango.  Here’s the funny selfie pic as well as some other photos of the moment taken by Spy Game Studios’ Akita Yasunari.

Harrison Ford:

Meeting Harrison Ford has always been a dream of ours, but working along side of him was unthinkable.   With this said, you can imagine how excited we were to provide security services to Han Solo himself.  Once inside the theater, Ford approached us, asking for an escort to his car so he could leave and return for the after party.

We cleared the perimeter and took Ford out the secret side door of the Chinese Theater.  As we were walking through the remote corridor, Ford started up some small talk.  Our precious moment didn’t last long because we were interrupted by a huge pack of autograph hounds, causing Ford to retreat around the corner for refuge.  “It’s ok, we got this. Crazy huh?” we said to Ford.  “Yeah no kidding” Ford responded.  “We’re ready when you are, let’s go…”

As silly as it sounds, if felt like we went to battle, as we led him into the crowd of fans and fortunately he came out in one piece.  After every poster and photo was signed, we were able to get Ford to his getaway car.  He thanked us profusely and we parted ways.

Expendables take the stage:

Once inside the theater, it was our job to help get the cast in a line to be introduced by Stallone himself.  Like an “All Star” Wedding party at Stallone’s wedding, it was pretty amazing to be in the company of all these accomplished action heroes for this big event.  As Stallone was trying to read this cast list, he complained that it was too dark for his old eyes to see the list.  We gave him our flashlight and he thanked us.  It was cool to be near Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Ford as they were having a private side conversation about the event.

Soon, Stallone was introducing each Expendable, and we were imagining the moment when Stallone would say our names, inviting us on stage.  Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but the experience was still priceless.

Terry Crews:

We have personally known Terry Crews for years, which dates back to the days when Alex used to sell Crews Apple Computers.  Whenever we run into Crews, he is very gracious and friendly.  He always takes a moment to talk and at this event it was no different.  We wish him much continued success.

Golden Globes Recap by Alexis DelChiaro

365 Fridays: Golden Glow

Covering the Golden Globes from the red carpet!

Covering the Golden Globes from the red carpet!

Wow!!! What a weekend! I had such a blast working for Gold Collagen at the Golden Globes! Gold Collagen is a super popular beauty product in the UK. Now they are hoping to break into the US beauty world and what better place to start than with Hollywood’s finest?! I mean who doesn’t want to look younger and more beautiful? So GC hired me to talk to celebs about their beauty regimes and find out how they get red carpet ready.

On the Cow Hide (?) Carpet of the GBK Productions Gifting Suite.

On the Cow Hide (?) Carpet of the GBK Productions Gifting Suite.

On Saturday, I set up camp at the GBK Productions Gifting Suite. Stars got to sample Gold Collagen and take home some freebies! I mean, they literally had their “handlers” walk around with them and fill a duffle bag the size of a human being with free goodies. It’s true…once you can afford it, everyone wants to give it to you for free! Ha! It was really fun talking to celebs in a more relaxed atmosphere than the red carpet.  My fav interview was with Michael Rooker from The Walking Dead. He was HILARE and so full of life…unlike his nasty character Merle Dixon!

On Sunday, the day of the Globes I spent the morning relaxing and then of course getting GLAMIFIED! Boy, no wonder celebs have a whole team of people to help them get ready for events. Turns out, it’s a lot of work! (But obviously very fun and exciting! I felt like royalty being fussed over.) I didn’t get to go inside the ceremony (that’s reserved for the uber famous and I am clearly not there yet) but I did get to watch from the official NBC “Gold Meets Golden” After-Party on the rooftop of the Beverly Hilton.

"Marie" from Breaking Bad said the cast was ecstatic about their win!

“Marie” from Breaking Bad said the cast was ecstatic about their win!

Once the show was over, I took my spot on the red carpet to talk to celebs and Olympians! The party was to celebrate the best in Hollywood and Sports since the Winter Olympics are coming up. Anyway, I love this part of my job! It’s an absolute blast and I certainly know how lucky I am. I chatted with everyone from Betsy Brandt (Marie) in Breaking Bad to Cheryl Burke of Dancing with the Stars, to George Kotsiopoulos of E! Fashion Police! Some of the big stars like Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Sophia Vergara, Amy Poehler and Monica Potter didn’t spend time much time on the red carpet and they weren’t really into giving interviews. They basically rushed right by to the party and big leagued us media peeps?

I did get to talk to lots of Olympians like Apolo Anton Ohno and my all time fav ever Kerri Walsh Jennings. I told her that we’d recently met at the AVP Beach Volleyball Tournament in Santa Barbara. (She may or may not have been freaked out by my enthusiasm. So I decided not to ask if she’d like to play two on two with my husband and I.) While working the red carpet, I even got to hold a Golden Globe myself! The Directors of “Frozen” stopped by with their shiny, new hardware and let me get my hands on it! Wowza! Seriously, such a special evening.

It's the A Team! Alexis and Alex!

It’s the A Team! Alexis and Alex!

HUGE thanks to everyone who helped me get my GOLDEN GLOW on for the weekend. My partner in crime, my photog, Alex Orellana from Spy Game Studios is one of the VERY best in the biz. He is like Jason Bourne with a video camera! Seriously, he knows where to go, when to go there and how to get there! We had an absolute blast working together and plan on teaming up again in the near future. Wanna hire us?

Feeling like Royalty!

Feeling like Royalty!

My wonderful friend and stylist Brooke Papp put my look together, head to toe-from the beautiful sheer MM Couture dress  right down to the gorgy gorg cocktail ring on my right hand. Check out her style blog I Need My Lipstick…she is seriously amazing! I like to call her the next Rachel Zoe.

Makeup Artist Tony Yanez is responsible for my flawless makeup. He is a serious wizard! He gave me a super sexy smokey eye with a soft pink lip. LOVE his work! He is beyond talented!

Also thank you to Cache for lending me the elegant black cocktail dress I wore on the eve of the Golden Globes. Tasteful and hot at the same time!

20th Annual SAG Awards Casting Of The Actor, The Screen Actors Guild Awards Statuette

SpyGame Studios was hired by Clevver to get a behind the scenes look at how they make the The Screen Actors Guild Awards Statuette.  The process was very informative and interesting to see how they carry out all the steps of production.

Step 1: Wax statuettes were made first to help create the metal molds.

Step 2:  Workers in fire suits poured molten bronze metal into molds at the American Fine Arts Foundry in Burbank, California.

Screen Shot 2014-01-10 at 9.52.41 AMScreen Shot 2014-01-10 at 9.55.08 AMScreen Shot 2014-01-10 at 9.53.03 AMIMG_0282

Step 3:  After the metal cooled, the molds were broken to reveal the Statuette.

Step 4:  The Statuettes were cleaned and the prepared to be painted.

Step 5:  Workers then heated the Statuette and applied a green-black patina.

Here were the final statuettes, next to other wax versions, to demonstrate all the steps of production.

Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees Lavell Crawford (Breaking Bad) and Matt Walsh (VEEP) were on hand to discuss the award.

Gal Gadot to play Wonder Woman

The Internet went wild when Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel — but not all the reaction was positive.

Many fans (both men and women) have apparently taken issue with the 28-year-old Israeli model playing the Amazon princess … and taken to Twitter to air their grievances.

While the 5’9″ stunner from the “Fast & Furious” films clearly has the height and action film experience for the role, the online reaction is questioning her eye color, thin frame and cleavage.

Screen Shot 2013-12-04 at 10.31.16 AM

SpyGame Studios and Popsugar teamed up to interview her at the Fast & Furious 6 premiere in LA, and here is a photo of the interview.  What do you think?
